Mobile Web Users Get 'Dot Mobi' Upgrade

Surfing the Web on a mobile device just got easier.

Typically, browsing a Web site on a mobile device involved a lot of scrolling and text, NBC11's Scott Budman reported.

Now, companies can create ".mobi" sites, which adjust a Web site's dimensions to fit comfortably on a mobile screen.

No matter how small the screen, the Web site will fit, Budman reported.

"Suddenly being able to check the auction or Google the person next to you -- that's the important thing," said Page Murray of Palm.

The .mobi address was founded by several mobile phone companies, which hope said they hope a lot of Web-based services sign up.
