Woz Admits To Speeding Ticket For 104 MPH In Prius

UPDATED: 3:11 pm PDT August 21, 2007

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak admits that he was speeding in his Prius-hybrid.

Wozniak said he got a ticket for going 104 mph on Interstate 5 earlier this year, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

A judge did not buy his excuse that he was used to the kilometer speeds used overseas, and fined him about $700.

Wozniak said he was surprised by how smooth the car sailed at high speeds.

He does he not recommend those speeds -- his 55 miles per gallon dropped to between 31 and 37 miles per gallon at 104 mph.

Wozniak isn't the only celeb to end up on the wrong side of the law after reaching triple digits in a Toyota Prius.

Police said that Al Gore III, son of former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, was pulled over in July for driving more than 100 mph in his Prius in Laguna Niguel, Calif.
