SF Mayor Proposes Campaign Finance Reform, Solar Power Rebates
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom called for campaign finance reform and rebates for alternative energy installations on Tuesday.Newsom submitted three ballot measures for the June election.One of the proposals would bar the acceptance of campaign contributions from contractors doing business with the city, he said in a statement. Another ordinance would ban campaign contributions from people who have conditional use or CEQA appeals worth $10 million or more before the Board of Supervisors.
The third ballot measure would institute a rebate program for residential and commercial installations of solar and wind power. A small portion of the city's unused Seismic Safety Loan Program bonding capacity would be reallocated to fund the rebates.
