Hawaii-Bound Pilot Arrested, Accused Of Trying To Fly Drunk

POSTED: 9:23 am PST March 30, 2004
UPDATED: 9:32 am PST March 30, 2004

An Aloha Airlines co-pilot is in trouble with the law, accused of showing up to fly a plane while drunk.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot had a blood-alcohol level that was about 1.8 percent -- more than twice Hawaii's legal limit.

Police arrested the pilot Saturday in Oakland before the flight took off to Hawaii.

Aloha Airlines says it considers the matter serious and company officials have suspended the pilot until they finish their investigation.
