SJ Police Make Arrest In Attempted Bank Robbery

Police have arrested a man suspected of unsuccessfully attempting to rob a Bank of America on Alum Rock Avenue in San Jose Wednesday and stabbing a customer on his way out, according to San Jose police. Shortly after 4 p.m. police received a report that someone was trying to rob the Bank of America at 2300 Alum Rock Ave. The man allegedly brandished a knife and demanded money from a teller, then became angry when the teller refused.
As he was fleeing the bank, the man stabbed a 38-year-old male customer in the arm, according to police. Police were given a description of the suspect, and within minutes located and arrested Gilbert V. Grijalva, 41, of San Jose in the area of Jackson and Alum Rock avenues. Grijalva was identified by people in the bank as the person who had attempted the robbery, police said. The injuries to the customer were not life-threatening.
