Cupertino Strip Mall Damaged By Fire

Santa Clara County firefighters remained for several hours on the scene of a two-alarm fire that burned a Cupertino strip mall Monday night, a fire dispatcher said. The blaze, reported around 11:05 p.m., burned businesses at the intersection of Stevens Creek Boulevard and Saich Way, fire officials said. The time the fire was controlled was unknown, but the last fire units remained to work at the scene of the blaze until about 5 a.m., a dispatcher said.
Among the businesses damaged by the fire were a 7-11, a liquor store, a kitchen remodel store and a dry cleaner.Firefighters think the fire started in the back of the buildings.Some 45 firefighters were on the scene.
