LOS GATOS, Calif. -- Friends and family of Jeanine Harms will gather to mark the year anniversary of her disappearance. The case is oncoing, although no new leads have developed.
The Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department says the family and
friends of Jeanine Harms will be holding a candlelight vigil at 8 p.m.
Saturday to mark the one-year anniversary of her disappearance.
Harms was last seen by friends leaving the Rock Bottom Brewery in
Campbell July 27, and allegedly last seen alive by Maurice Nasmeh, who told police last year he left her sleeping on the couch in the living room of her Chirco Drive home in Los Gatos at about 1 a.m. on July 28.
Harms' family and friends will be joined at the vigil by newly
appointed Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Chief Scott Seaman.
Police spokesman Sgt. Kerry Harris says since his appointment,
Seaman has taken the Harms case and "stripped it down to the bare bones" having investigators rebuild the case from scratch to see if they can come up with any new leads.
A Los Gatos police detective is still assigned full-time to the
case, meaning he "does nothing but follow up on leads into her
disappearance," Harris explained.
In addition, investigators with the California Department of
Justice and the San Jose Police Department have also examined the case in the hopes that perhaps a fresh perspective will help solve it.
"Some times a new set of eyes can be critical," Harris pointed
out.
Tips about the case are still coming in, Harris said, via the
phone and FindJeanine.com, a Web site developed by Harms' family and friends that has links to the Police Department's site.
Detectives say they are hopeful the media attention surrounding
the anniversary may result in more clues as to her whereabouts.
Unfortunately, officials say Harms likely met with foul play and
the missing person case has turned into a homicide investigation.
Harris is sure that someone out there has information that could
help detectives solve the case, but perhaps that person may feel the
information is not significant enough to report. He is encouraging anyone with the slightest bit of information to contact investigators.
"We're confident that someone out there saw something or heard
something or knows someone that may have been involved,'' he said. "Someone other than the perpetrator."
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jeanine Harms is
asked to contact Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Detective Steve Walpole at (408) 354-8600.
The vigil for Jeanine will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday on
the front lawn of the Los Gatos Civic Center, 110 E. Main St. in Los Gatos.
