Sketches Released In Berkeley Sexual Assault Cases

BERKELEY, Calif. -- The Berkeley Police Department on Friday released sketches for two sexual assault investigations.Sex crimes detectives said they need the community's help in solving the two recent assaults.Detectives said that although there are similarities in the incidents, they are investigating each crime separately.
In both cases, the attackers targeted college-age Asian women in lobbies of apartment buildings.Police said that on July 6 at about 3 p.m., a woman was assaulted in the 2500 block of Hillegass Avenue.Police described the attacker as a black man in his 30s, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a dark complexion and thin build. Police said the attacker was wearing a black baseball cap, dark T-shirt with silver writing and dark loose-fitting athletic shorts.Police said that on Aug. 2 at about 6 p.m., another woman was attacked in the 2100 block of Haste Street.The attacker was described as a black man in his late-20s to early-30s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall. The man has a dark complexion and thin build.He possibly has chin-length dreads or a shaved head, police said. The man was wearing, dark baggy jeans and a dark jacket.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 510-981-5734 or 510-981-5900.
