Bay Area Gas Prices Climb -- Again
Gas prices in the Bay Area may hit an all time-high Friday. The numbers are up a penny a day -- about 34 cents from a month ago. Some stations in San Francisco are already approaching the $4 mark. One station has reportedly already topped it at $4.18 per gallon.AAA Texas spokeswoman Carol Thorp says there are several contributing factors to the steady increase. She says there are lower gas inventories due to the switchover from winter to summer-grade fuel, and often refineries go down for maintenance during this time so supplies are tighter.Thorp adds that tighter supplies already have energy traders feeling some anxiety and with the capture of British soldiers in Iran, that anxiety increases.
