Animal Activists Target South Bay Company

UPDATED: 8:49 am PST February 7, 2007

Animal rights protestors are targeting a South Bay company after a dog was killed in a sales demonstration.

People for the Ethical Treatment Of Animals is protesting medical equipment company Micrus Endovascular at a conference in San Francisco Wednesday.

PETA is upset that a Cleveland, Ohio, clinic induced an aneurysm in a dog for a corporate sales demonstration.

The dog survived the demonstration but had to be put to sleep later.

The protest will start at noon.

A representative for Micrus said the matter concerns the clinic and not their company.

The doctor who performed the demonstration was disciplined but is still working, reported NBC11's Cheryl Hurd.
