Looking For Love In The Bay Area
Your pictures inspire our stories. NBC11 put digital cameras into the hands of real people and their images became our stories in a special series called Moving Pictures.
We sent field producer Michelle Toy to a Bay Area bar where speed dating was in full swing for the Valentine's Day installment of Moving Pictures.
Speed dating. It's something I never really considered before, but when assigned to find love in the Bay Area, it seemed fitting. In a place where singles are so busy juggling work, the gym and walking the dog, not to mention sleep, what better way to meet so many people with so little time?SLIDESHOW: Finding Love In The Bay Area

Looking For Love The first person I met was Sugey Gama, the host of Hurrydate -- I immediately loved her. I thought to myself, "Now this is a person I would be friends with, so why not have faith in what she does?"
Still, I was a little skeptical. I mean, what kind of people are desperate for this kind of exhausting ritual? Four minutes of the same old, "Hi, my name is so and so. What do you do?"
When I got the pictures back I was surprised to see these singles look like regular people. They're the same pool of people you would find out at the bars on any given night. The benefit of this type of dating is that it takes out a lot of guesswork. You know who's interested and who's not.You know everyone there is on a mission to meet someone. It's not as if they are desperate (well, some might be), but there is definitely an objective in the room that you can immediately sense. To further my point, by the end of the night I was asked out on two dates -- and I wasn't even participating. So, I guess you can find love in the Bay Area. Well, finding love may take some time, but finding a date for this weekend, that's not so hard. I'll make it even easier for you single gals out there. Click on the video link and watch the story.See the cute guy in the button down shirt? He's the one who sits down and says, "Hey, how are you?"That's Matt.
