Kids have a whole lot more distractions from their homework, and most of it is in their rooms, according to a new survey.Nearly one-third of the kids say they talk on the phone, surf the Web, watch television, or listen to music while doing homework. And most of those electronics are in their bedrooms.
"When I was a kid, go to your room was punishment," said Donald Roberts of Stanford University. "I was going to go in there and I was going to contemplate my sins in quiet. Today, go to your room is a go to the media arcade."
The study also showed kids spend more time per day with media than hanging out with their parents, doing homework, and exercising combined.
